Hi, I’m Shika. I’m a Food Stylist, Photographer & Recipe Book Designer living in sunny Brisbane, Australia.
I started The Bellephant as I love all things food! I grew up in a food loving family and enjoyed delicious home cooked meals everyday. My mum’s cooking is my benchmark for my traditional Sri Lankan recipes. Everyone who tries her food raves about it and so the kitchen is definitely the hub of our family home. This is a legacy I hope to live up to. My dad gave me an obsessive need to recreate any amazing dishes I try (just ask him about Irish stew!)
I love coming up with new recipes based on flavours I crave and random waves of inspiration. I learnt to cook using instinct versus following strict recipes so I highly encourage you to adapt my recipes as you please. I’d love to hear about what you do with them so let me know in the comments.
